Thank you Jesus for Rice Cereal

Big brother Beau's chair, Mama's mixing up something funny, lots to be a little nervous about...

Hmm, what's this? OOooO, that's yummy! I love it Mama!!!

At four months old, rice cereal is part of our saving grace. Baby girl only wakes up a few times at night, instead of every hour now!! She is so smiley and precious. Almost rolling over and I have a sinking suspision she may already get carsick. phooey. She loves to talk and now growls back at mr bear! And she can sit at the table like a big girl...

Beauisms

"Look at that so pretty rainbow Mama!" He spotted it way before me!
"I swing!" He holds on to the end of the breakfast bar and swings his legs. All the time.
"Inna listen to the bugs and the frogs in your bed." We have a window over our bed. Sometimes I open it when we cuddle up with a book. A long time ago he asked, "whats that I hear?" I said, "its the bugs and the frogs."
He named Teddy Grahams "Cookie Bears"
He is trying out a new tone, it is his demanding tone. Demanding tone gets him in trouble all the time, so now he adds, "Ok?" to the end of demanding sentance. "I NEED a drink, Ok?" No Beau, "Ok" doesn't cancel out demanding tone.
He now has chores, it is his job to feed Kitty in the morning. Sometimes he hits the bowl, sometimes its all over the porch. I think I can see Kitty shrug and say, "oh well, at least I got fed today."
He can also put his dishes in the sink, by "put" I really mean "toss", by "toss" I really mean throw as hard as possible. We have to remember what's already in the sink before the toss. Things break.
He has offically taught Lauren to suck her thumb. First he started to try to put her hand in her mouth when she was crying. This obviously mad her more furious. He'd say, "dis helps Lauren." When that didn't work, the next obvious option is to offer his own. That's right, he lets Lauren suck on his thumb. She loves it. So now she has found her own, the right hand, just like her awesome big brother beau. I'm sure this is just the beginning of Lauren's "Lessons from Beau".

Frustrated

I am Frustrated with Acid Reflux. I am Thankful for medication.
I am Frustrated with my new horrible haircut that makes my head look like a mushroom. I am Thankful I have hair.
I am Frustrated the low water bridge to my home is out until NOVEMBER which means a 50min drive to work. I am Thankful it is being repaired and therefore safe to cross.
I am Frustrated Beau is becoming defiant to get attention because Lauren consumes every ounce of me. I am Thankful he wants my attention.
I am Frustrated with her screaming. I am Thankful she can tell me something is wrong.
I am Frustrated that I cannot fix anything. I am Thankful for a God that can.

THAT Mom

QUEASY TUMMIES BEWARE

Way way back in 2007... I'm sitting in church. Two rows up and over to the right is a sweet little family doing their best to entertain the squirrely toddler and hold the newborn. They have the traditional Cheerios and sippy cup. All of a sudden squirrely toddler becomes choked and starts gagging. THAT Mom, in one swift move, grabs the receiving blanket, catches ALL squirrely toddler Cheerio vomit, rolls up the blanket and shoves it in the diaper bag. I am gagging, watering eyes and no longer listening to sermon. I could not get over the blanket full of yuck in the bag. And the fact that no yuck touched any surface of the church, squirrely toddler or THAT Mom. Thoroughly grossed out and impressed.

Fast forward. We are sitting in a local dinning establishment, all four of us. Mr Bear has always struggled with putting too much food in those chubby cheeks. He just does. This time was no exception. Fried okra was the culprit. I'm holding Lauren, Beau looks at me, eyebrows turn red. In one swift move I am THAT Mom. Lauren is perfectly positioned on her blanket in the booth right next to me and I am catching squirrely toddler okra yuck in my hands while calmly requesting for paper towel backup from Mike. He (of course) comes through, slides paper towels under my hands, mess is contained. No one is crying, eyebrows return to normal. We peacefully finish the great meal.... and then I wondered who saw that from a distance and will blog about it some day when they become THAT Mom.
