Lil Bit at 18/19 Months

My sweet sweet little girl makes me smile all over my face. I delight in having this baby in my life. Her smile lights up her whole tiny face. I can see Syboda cheeks and Wilmoth teeth! I'll never get used to discovering little family heirlooms knitted into my children. It blows my mind that they have my pinky toe and Mike's caramel colored birthmarks.

At this point Lauren is running the race to keep up with big brother. Lord help you if you give him something and forget her! Anything he can do, she can do too - so she believes. So far that hasn't resulted in a compound arm fracture. I'll do my best to make sure footstools aren't involved in their performances. She's so funny, when she's running really fast she starts giggling and crashes! She loves to play with Beau and Will and holds her own I'm telling ya. Those boys might need to watch out for sassy britches.
She talks so much. This is a great surprise, I was preparing for her to be mute because Beau serves the family as Constant Communicator. She still babbles and gives you a what-for in Mandarin Chinese but otherwise can communicate really well. She says: "Where are you? Where she go? Dere she is! All done. Up please. Love you. I say no-no. Baby. Tank to (thank you). Ni-Nite. Sorry." She can say all of our names on her own or prompted. She can say anything really when you prompt her. She signs all done ( shaking hands), more (finger tips together) love (cross her arms in front).

She weighs 22lbs and isn't quite in the 10th percentile for height. PETiTE. She is ticklish and has a sweet appreciative laugh. She likes to "get you" run up to you, laugh and then run away as fast as she can! Daddy plays this all the time. Oh and sister can scream. Yes ma'am, if she is not a fan of said activity, you will be alerted. Trust me.

Lauren is a natural princess. She prefers to play babies, likes to wear the cheap dress-up jewelry and will leave the hairbows in her hair. I find my shoes all over the place AND yes, the 19 month old can walk in heels. She brings me books and teacups and babies to snuggle. She doesn't love brushing her teeth, but needs lotion after baths and a little squirt of body spray before heading out the door! She stays in the bathroom with Mama while we're getting ready and likes to have her hair curled. She also loves whatever Beau is playing and does a good job of getting in the middle of it. Mostly they play together well.

She might be gearing herself up for the potty. She comes to me when she is dirty and is pushing her way in the bathroom to see what is happening. I might get the frog out and let her sit a spell.

I've about figured out the time-out approach is the most effective method of stop-its! Swatting is a no-go at this point. She gets angry and tries to swat back. Ack! I've caught Beau trying to discipline her. We hear our words to him repeated, that's an effective parenting check.

Lauren is a Mama's girl and prefers my hip to ensure she's in the middle of everything I'm doing! She gets nervous and whiney when she detects an exit strategy brewing. She is smart, can count one-two-three and can recite a bunch of animal noises. Ducks seem to be a favorite. She is charming, beautiful and knows how to get what she wants with that smile and head tilt. I think she likes dressing up as much as I love coordinating the outfit!

Mama and Daddy sure do love you Beautiful Baby Girl.

Get ready for some back-bloggin...

November?

How did I miss November? Sorry loyal followers. November is a tough month. It's always the month I have to step back, take a deep breath and pump myself up to make it through beloved basketball season.

Basketball and I have a love/hate relationship. Mostly love, but sometimes hate. I love the opportunities it has afforded us. There is nothing in this world better than moving back to Springtown. We belong here and I am so blessed. I love learning about my new basketball family, they have been so welcoming and kind to our family. Beau is eating up all the sweet attention from his "girlfriends". They have all quickly fallen in love with the little Crewseys. Lauren's taking a little more time to warm up to them, but she's like Mike and so... there you go. I love the opportunity to minister to these girls. Mike and I consider it an honor, challenge and deep responsibility to be an example of Christian love and support. Mike is an excellent mentor and I am a constant work in progress to be his awesome sidekick. I often get discouraged and fail, but I'm working hard to conquer the devil and his evil attempts to squish my perky personality. Jerk. We've decided to delete the word "hate" at our house as Beau has inserted it in his vocabulary recently to get some reactions, so instead I'll use, "greatly dislike". I greatly dislike and struggle with the time commitment of Mike's position. Plus, since this is a new rodeo, building a new program and whatnot, this year is Hartville time commitment x 1.5. Yikes. I am a single parent during much of basketball season and it is just difficult. Although, I'm thankful for the experience, because it certainly opens my eyes to the tremendous helpmate I have in Mike. Additionally, staying with Mama is just strawberries and cool whip on my shortcake. I could not make it without my family.

Speaking of family, we had a lovely Thanksgiving!

First bite of pumpkin pie. Nom Nom Nom!!!

Wishbone!

Will really likes it when Aunt Carrie chases him with cameras.
