CHRISTMAS AND MORE
By: Johnye E. Pryor
Christmas was a special day, it brought the birth of a king;
Not just a king over one mere land, but a king over everything.
The creator of the universe came down to live with man;
He put in motion on that day God’s great redemption plan.
He came to earth as a wee small babe, so lowly, meek and mild;
We celebrate this time of year the birth of this holy child.
God sent His Son into the world to redeem us from the fall;
Not just for one or two of us, but He was born for all.
It started in a manger bed, in a lowly cattle stall;
He lived a sinless, spotless life, on a cross He died for all.
On the third day He rose again, conquering death, hell, and the grave;
To give us victory over them too, no longer must we be enslaved.
What began in a manger bed, in a lowly cattle stall;
Was revealed as God’s great plan, to redeem us from the fall.
But my friend, there’s more to come, the story doesn’t end here;
There’s one more step in God’s great plan, His word has made it clear.
God’s only Son came down to earth, as a babe so meek and mild;
But He has promised He’ll come again, and this time not as a child.
This time He’ll be coming back with power from on high;
To rescue those who trust in Him, and away with Him we’ll fly.
O yes, He’s coming back again with power and great might;
As King of Kings, and Lord of Lords, He’ll conquer wrong with right.
The whole world knows about His birth, His death and resurrection too;
But unless He lives with in your heart, He won’t be coming for you.
So ask Him in your heart today.
My friend, please don’t delay;
And you’ll not celebrate just His birth,
But also His coronation day.

a thankful heart

Once upon a time ago {circa fall 2007} I was schmoozing some newly added family photos of my sweet friend Erica on facebook. It was just a random album of her beautiful family. One photo in particular came up that gave me goosebumps. It is just her and baby Gracie cuddling in her bed in pj's and it is more than beautiful to me. You see, it was exactly my hearts desire...
At that time in my life, it was coming close to the 2 and 1/2 year mark of struggling to have our own baby. I wasn't in a very good place emotionally, but I was strong in my faith and at that moment, looking at that perfect photo of what I so badly desired, I cried. No I bawled. I cried out to God and told Him my heart. I told Him what he already knew. I told him how I longed to cuddle babies in my big bed on sleepy weekend mornings in the sunshine. I desired to change my life forever and put my selfishness aside. Little did I know, my beautiful Beau bear was being knit together perfectly and quietly as I cried to Jesus. Sometimes I think He just pats our head and smiles down at us knowingly and says with a twinkle in His eye... "Oh just you wait! I have such a wonderful surprise for You!"
So now I offer these photos to you of my most precious blessings. When I look at these I think back to Erica and Gracie. I think about the Hope I find over and over again in my faith. I think about how far I've come from that desperate place and how perfectly I am loved and blessed by my Heavenly Father.
