Boo Drugs

So if you know me, you know I don't metabolize medication well at all. Benadryl lays me out for 12 hours, I put Beau's newborn head in the ceiling fan on percoset, I dreamed of ants marching on my face post-wisdom teeth surgery on hydrocodone, I nearly had a heart attack on codeine at the age of 11... you get the point. I don't like to take drugs.

After I had Lauren my back has never been the same, I get random stupid spasms. They take my breath away. Ridiculous. The last big episode landed me in a clinic with heat packs and an awesome shot in my hinny. Dr. Wonderful sent me home with 2 prescriptions. One is what I call, Big Guns - which I never take. Two is, Take One Everyday - which is what works for me during an episode.

So Wednesday night, I'm laying in our big bed with Lauren {who has recently decided sleeping is no fun and just throws the biggest fit you've ever seen}. She's wollering to stay awake and it hits me. Wham. Spasm under my shoulder blade. Miiikkkkeeee!! He comes in. I tell him my medicine is downstairs. I don't believe he knows this information however, Big Guns is on the kitchen counter and Take One Everyday is in my purse. By the time he comes back, which really isn't a long time, I'm not able to use my right arm or stand up straight. Ridiculous and so aggravating!

I laid down still as I could and worked on breathing. Lauren is crying herself to sleep. Boo.

The next day I am not right. I just felt off and I couldn't put my finger on it! My shoulder was sore but the spasm relaxed. I had a really hard time waking up. A sequence of crazy stuff kept happening and finally, I thought to email Mike and ask which medicine he gave me. Yep, it was Big Guns!

Me and Big Guns are not friends. I forgot to buckle the baby in her car seat. I got all turned around driving to work. I argued with the checkout lady at Walgreen's over a $1. I emailed the incorrect person that their tape dispenser had arrived. I wrote a completely bizarre email to Mike, it made no sense. Once I realized what was happening... I got a case of the giggles and couldn't quit for a while. I tried really hard to be low-key and stay at my desk waiting for my body and Big Guns to part ways. At the end of the day... had No Idea where I parked in the parking lot. None. Boo drugs!

The 10 Commandments of College Football Fandom

1. Thou shalt wear team colors. But think twice before adorning yourself with body paint-you don't want to be the Internet photo that goes viral.
2. Thou shalt know-and sing-your team's fight song from beginning to end. Sure, you can "watermelon watermelon" your way through the alma mater, but not memorizing the fight song is a fan failure.
3. Thou shalt keep your language clean (unless, of course, the quarterback fumbles on fourth and goal).
4. Thou shalt support the coach. Even when his calls are questionable.
5. Thou shalt be respectful to visiting teams. Remember: Southern ladies and gentlemen never boo.
6. Thou shalt set up a tailgate no fewer than three hours before kickoff (six if it's a night game). Table linens and matching huggers encouraged, but not required.
7. Thou shalt theme your tailgate food around the visiting rival. Gator bites, anyone?
8. Thou shalt stay through the fourth quarter-rain or shine. That's what ponchos are for ya'll.
9. Thou shalt respect the solemnity of Game Day by planning weddings, births, and other life events around the football schedule.
10. Thou shalt not covet other team's bowl games, national championships, or Heisman Trophy wins. There's always next year.

Go Hogs.

Just an Update

We are doing great! The End. Just kidding.

Michael is thoroughly enjoying his new job. The other day he said, I need to do everything I can to keep this job for a long time. He is teaching History to Freshmen and Sophomores. He is teaching from a cart! That means he currently has no classroom of his own, he rotates to different classrooms as the bell rings, just like the students. So far, that's going well. He's glad this isn't his first rodeo, because the cart thing sure is different, doable, but different. I understand the HS plans to build the extra wing, including 8 new classrooms sooner than we originally thought. Until then, I'm making plans in my head to decorate the cart. I'd love to put those tacky plastic string lights of lobsters or chili peppers around it. Ooo, just wait until the holidays!! We went to the football game last Friday night. Fun. We ended up in the student section. I was really impressed with their behavior, they weren't fools. The funny problem I had at the ballgame; Beau is too comfortable climbing all over the place and all over the people. He only knows our Hartville basketball family, and therefore doesn't know a stranger, even in a new place. Mostly, the people around us were kind and understanding. Especially the young man that had a large boo-boo on his knee that totally captured the Bear's attention. We now know the full details of the accident, when it happened, and of course that he now okay. Jenny and I left a little after half-time of the ballgame. Beau proceeded to invite section AA to Aunt Jenny's house to play. This Friday night is the first home game. I'm pumped about listening to their band. My name is Carrie and I am a band nerd. Always will be.

I am still enjoying my job and the people I work with in the office. We jive. I love being on the main campus and watching all the students. My observations:
-There are some incredibly short shorts on all kinds of legs. At this point in my life, I'm no longer in the mindset of, "Gosh, I would never wear that!" It is now, "I would never let Lauren wear that!" hahaha!
-I love getting to know the Ag students. They are super cool.
-I don't know how to help any of them. Yet.
-Chick-Fil-A is at the Union!
-I signed up for Fitness Classes for the whole semester because Chick-Fil-A is at the Union.
-1992 fashion is here, complete with neon. I'm waiting for poofy bangs.
-I'm not good at walking and reading all the sidewalk chalk.
-I love that my sissy is on campus this semester. She's completing her BS in Nursing. They put her in a Phys Ed course and get this.. she has to run a mile. Hahahaaa!! I love it. I love that I get to see her for lunch sometimes too.

So the house isn't selling, no one is looking at it. I called the realtor. It wasn't good news. I'm getting worried about going through this winter owning that home. It takes a lot of work in the winter. Propane is going to eat our lunch with us not able to burn wood.

I have a biometrics test tomorrow morning. I'm hopeful I'm not diabetic, that's another reason I signed up for Fitness Classes. It's free and the information is good to know.

Lauren is in the 10th percentile for height, and 20th for weight. She's a big 21lbs!! The best part of the visit was we were granted permission to switch her car seat to forward facing. So happy about that, I had a feeling she was getting carsick. She has a new trick and I'm hopeful to get the short video of such trick loaded tomorrow.

Tootles!
