Homecoming

Each fall the Party Barge descends upon Point Lookout to attend the annual Homecoming festivities. I’m not going to lie. This year was totally different in every imaginable way! Let’s just say having babies changes things. We’re all a little slower to get around. Getting all the gear out of the car and strategically balanced on the stroller, including the baby takes skill. Plus making sure baby is dressed, clean face, two shoes, somewhat acceptable hair and crisis management tools (ie. Bottles, animal crackers, too many diapers, additional outfits…) adds another 10mins minimum.
Highway 65 southbound on Saturday afternoon was curiously plagued with accidents. We were in a caravan and therefore all ran into the problems and therefore all of us were very late to the Par-Tay. We basically got there in time to grab lunch on a Styrofoam plate and plop down under a tent for shade to watch the parade. We missed the mingling booth time to see old faces and squeeze new babies. Phooey. I personally was looking forward to the face paint. I did get to take Beau to see the piglets, which was cool and Emma got to see the calves. So not all was a wash. I can’t say the same for the parade… at least Shae and Emma totally raked in the candy!! Beau took a nap on Trapper.
We walked around the campus and went through the new education building aka Mike’s future office. He has a wonderful view!! Took some great pictures and then went to the Landing for dinner.

Macaroni Grille has a private dining room which was our saving grace. 14 adults, 4 toddlers, and 3 infants! Awesome Chaos. Actually, for the majority of the Mama’s suffering headaches and exhaustion, the babies hungry and very tired… it was really a great time. Honest! The boys had an unexpected surprise in a ginormous big screen with football, while the Ladies enjoyed catching up on what weird things our kids put in their mouths. Yuck.
Good Good Times.
